TWITTER - the Green Vegetable of Recruiting
|

As your mother told you, "No dessert until you clean up your entire plate."
The dessert is finding top talent - especially the passive kind. As recruiters, we all want to find candidates in the deep, dark corners of the internet. But in 2012, many recruiters still ask - can't we find all the passive talent we need without having to "swallow" Twitter? Probably not!
This is not another course on how to use Twitter. This is for people who furrow their brow, roll their eyes and silently think grumpy thoughts at the mention of Twitter. This is a session for the Twitter naysayers presented by a reformed Twitter naysayer.
Most of us know the basic facts about Twitter. It launched in July 2006. It was heavily promoted at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference in 2007. AIRS added it to the AdvancedLab course in 2008. Today, Twitter is one of the top ten trafficked sites in the US with 300+ million users and over 1.6 billion search queries each day.
It has become a mainstay in the recruiting community; and yet many recruiters still don't see the point of leveraging a social media site that according to some analysts has 40% "pointless babbles" (tweets such as "I had ham & cheese 4 lunch" or "headed to Home Depot 2nite"). These are very valid concerns and we will address them in the webinar.
This 30 minute session will demonstrate the true value of Twitter to recruiters. It will be presented from the perspective of a pessimistic Twitter user who will show why she converted to becoming an active Twitter user.
We know that upon your first introduction to Twitter you may not have comprehended the significance of the site. Just as a small child does not grasp why they must eat their green vegetables; it is their parent who understands the nutritional value and wants to make sure the child ingests them.
Twitter is the green vegetable of recruiting, and we want to make sure you get its value into your daily routine. You may not grow to appreciate or even crave Twitter, but after 30 minutes you will see how to (and more importantly why you need to) leverage the unlimited power of Twitter.
So go ahead register. This course is open to anyone in the industry for FREE (not just AIRS alumni). So invite anyone you know who abhors Twitter, recruiters who opened a Twitter account back in the day and still don't know why, anyone who believes Twitter is only for people with a lot of free time, recruiters who believe Twitter is a waste of time, or anyone who prides themselves on only using old-school pioneering tools and swore they would never have a Twitter account.
We are going to have fun. We are going to be real. We are going to learn. And we are going to get better at filing requisitions quicker ... YES! using Twitter!
